My Charles line begins with Elisha Franklin Charles. Elisha married Sarah Ann Payne in Indiana on February 23, 1848. Their children were Austin Jerome Charles and Elva Charles. Sarah Payne Charles died Grandmother Payne helped raise then. Elisha Franklin Charles married again, with this union two sons were born - Fred and Ed. Elisha's second wife died and he remarried again, to this union three more children were born - Alva, Lyman and Benton.
